U18 Mainstream Evaluations

U18 Mainstream evaluations will begin this weekend. We are currently waiting for the U18 AAA and AA teams to finalize their rosters. This additional time will help us make the U18 Mainstream evaluation process as accurate and fair as possible for all players.

Players will be evaluated in a variety of areas, including:

• Skating

• Puck management

• Hockey IQ

• Compete level

• Communication

• Team play

• Defensive responsibilities

Evaluation games will consist of three 15-minute stop-time periods, with an ice flood between the second and third periods. This format will allow our evaluators to get a strong overall assessment of each player and help ensure teams are placed at an appropriate competitive level.

Teams & Tiering

At this time, we anticipate entering three U18 teams into the NEAHL.

The level/tier of the top two teams will be determined after the evaluation process is complete. The third team will be Tier 4 – NBC, in accordance with the Hockey Alberta tiering matrix followed by the NEAHL.

Evaluation groups will be released in the next few days as we continue to wait for additional player releases from the AA teams.

Sunday, September 27
4:00–5:30 PM
SSC- Rusway Arena
Group 2 vs. Group 3

Monday, September 28
7:00–8:30 PM
Cenovus Energy Hub – Co-op Arena
Group 1 vs. Group 3

Volunteers Needed

We would greatly appreciate volunteers to help make the evaluation sessions run smoothly.

We are looking for volunteers for:

• Time clock and music

• Two volunteers per bench during games

• Jersey handout
